Prosciutto bags are an elastic cotton stocking bag used to cover and protect your prosciutto during the curing process.
The ultra fine gauze is large enough to let the moisture out of the meat while small enough to keep away any insects and other potential airborne contaminants from contaminating the meat.
Most importantly these bags are strong, a very important feature as your prosciutto will be hanging for several months in many cases.
Simply stretch the open end of the bag over your piece of prosciutto or leg, tie a double knot in the bag at the top of your meat making sure it is tightly secured. You are now ready to hang!
The bag can also be reused if undamaged by putting it through the washing machine at the end of the curing cycle.
